Assistenzärzte in England im Streik

Köln – Assistenzärztinnen und -ärzte in England haben angekündigt, dass sie an drei Tagen im Januar und Februar streiken werden. Sie wollen am 12. Januar für 24 Stunden und am 26. Januar 48 Stunden lang nur einen Notdienst aufrechterhalten. Am 10. Februar wollen die Junior Doctors vollständig die Arbeit niederlegen, wie die British Medical Association https://3c.gmx.net/mail/client/dereferrer?redirectUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bma.org.uk%2F (BMA) gestern mitteilte. Es ist der erste Streik der Assistenzärzte in 40 Jahren.

London junior doctor rally a “wake-up call“ for ministers

The thousands of junior doctors preparing to take to the streets of London later today (Saturday) in protest at imposed changes to their contracts must be wake-up call for ministers, the leader of the UK’s junior doctors has said.
The rally, beginning today in Waterloo Place, is in response to the government’s threat to impose a new contract on junior doctors from August 2016. This followed the BMA’s decision not to re-enter negotiations over fears to patient and doctor safety1.

Junior doctors confirm industrial action for 10 February as Government puts politics before patients

(issued Monday 01 Feb 2016)

Talks to agree a new junior doctor contract have floundered following the Government’s continued refusal to put reason before politics in agreeing a fair solution for an already overstretched junior doctor workforce.

In response, the BMA has today confirmed that industrial action scheduled for next week will go ahead. Rather than a full walkout, this industrial action will take the form of 24-hour emergency care only, beginning at 8am on Wednesday, 10 February and ending at 8am Thursday, 11 February1.
